Default Need input/opinions

Okay, gurus, I need your input and/or opinions on the Garrett ACE 250. I found it fairly inexpensively and hubby's giving it to me for my birthday. As some of you know, I'm new with a basic Bounty Hunter and already looking to upgrade cuz I just KNOW I'm missing good stuff. I especially need depth finding and pinpointing which apparently this has. Would this be a good upgrade?

Let me have it!

Marna :)

P.S. Beach day tomorrow, I hope! Everyone tells me I should find stuff at the beach. Now that I'm getting better with the BH, finding a little more each time I go out, I'm heading to the sand again.

Default ACE upgrade

Hi Marna. I had the ACE150 for a few months, the 250 having more options in the discrimination and a pinpoint feature but essentionaly the same detector, and really liked it in the sand at freshwater beaches and in the barkchips at playgrounds with depth being ok and pinpointing easy once you get used to them but the more trashy areas of picnic grounds and when in heavier mineralised ground the false and non repeatable signals, whether in all metal or discrimination mode, that the ACE's give...mixed in with the three tones made for an uncomfortable and non profitable hunt. I sold it this week because of its failure as an allrounder and it being too coil heavy for my kids. Great value for the money though and it's only my opinion but I feel that to get the best out of a detector for a few years and with better coil selections that the next step up in price range-depth range would be much better for an upgrade. Best of luck with whatever you go for Marna....Rob.
