Default Saturation Point & Then Some

I cannot believe how much rain we've had today! This morning the storms were fierce and the rain came down so hard and so fast that water was running down my road like a stream. I live at the top of a valley and my ditches are very deep and steeply sloped and the ditches filled faster than they could drain into the creek and it over took the road.

Both the intake and outflow on the pond are under water but I haven't gone down to see if the water went over the dam or not. That's only happened once or twice since I moved here in '88. And now it's thundering and we have storm warnings again until 2am.

The good news is that maybe all that pounding water washed some good stuff to the top of the field. I've heard there is a sweet spot for artifacts out here but I haven't found it. It might be in the area I have let grow into prairie grass. I'm sorely tempted to go walk the edges now but I'd have 20 lbs of mud on each shoe if I did.

And you know how my yard has been skunking me? Well it sorta stuck its tongue out at me today. When I got home I was walking around the yard and lying right on top of a semi-bare spot was a square nail laying next to a small buckle like you'd find on a small animal collar. Maybe it was signalling me where to start when I go out in the yard again but really I think it was just being a wiseacre.

So, I'm sitting here listening to it thunder again and a tree frog is in the bush under the kitchen window. So loud that it scared me witless when it started singing! I really thought there was some kind of mechanical problem somewhere in the house!

So, how're things in your neck of the woods today?

Janiece, kinda hot here in Florida...Waiting on the rain....maybe...After your rain is over and it dries out some will be a good time to hunt..The moisture will give off some cool signals for sure....It interacts with the metal...That is way it is always a good hunt after a lot of rain..that and the ground will be softer to dig..I would hit you yard again also..never know what has washed up...Good luck...Say Hi to the frogs for me...Buster.....

Maybe it's time to sit on the porch and do some fishing?

About six months ago, I was on the computer (lap Top ) and the weather started moving in. It was banging not to far from the house and I told my self, Just finish this and shut down. Next thing I know, My lap top did this Pop, Ziiiiinnnnng!

Lightning had hit the power pole supplying my home. I lost the lap top, TV, Phone, Well Pump and a few other little things. It cost $500. for a new lap top, $800. for the well and $5.00 for some new shorts!!!!

Janiece your yard sounds promising and with all the rain you'll be able to hear those deep targets. Good luck, stay dry.

Snap. More storms, more sirens. Scandal's hiding in the bathtub so I guess I'll go to bed.

I did go out to the field though...
