I'd put money on the tommy gun being "lost" and currently gracing some official's collection. You HAVE heard about our politicians here in IL, right?

Reminds me of one of the greatest lies ever told......."I'm from the government and I'm here to help"

Being a semi gun nut, I know the value of the beast. It makes me sick thinkin it got chopped. But janiece is most likely right. It got lost in the papers some place and is in a collection. Never Mind the $200.00 BATFE tax stamp and back ground check I would be required to have. This thing had (0) paper trail on it. Hell it could have been Dillinger's stash!

Man, that would be in my personal collection for sure, then when antiques roadshow came to Cleveland, I'd find out the value then on to Christies for some fast cash. The cops would be way behind me. Like Eddie G. might say " You dirty rats, You'll never catch me coppers"

It would be SO hard to keep a find like that quiet though. You know you'd have to tell someone and then they'd tell someone else, "Hey, I'm gonna tell you this but it's a secret..." And on and on. Were I to find something like that I'd take a lot of photos, keep it just for a little while, and probably see if I could donate it to a museum or something. In IL it'd be illegal to own or sell.

I'm a certified gun nut (retired Marine) and I would have kept this bad boy for sure. Make no doubt about it...!!! I cant even imagine being able to hold one of these in your hands. well I was born too late, and don't want to get into the class III thing now as I have college age (read: paying for college...kinda/sorta) kids and by the time I could actually afford it, there wont be any place left to shoot em'. I guess I'll just have to settle for a jewelers file and my soon to be black rifle (colt m-16 type rifle)....No I wouldn't do that...lol!
