Default Detectors for the deaf/hard-of-hearing?

Do any of you know if any of the metal detector companies are developing or have developed anything for the deaf? It seems to me that it wouldn'tbe much of a stretch to convert an audio signal to a visial one, or to a vibration or something...

Was just chatting with a MD'ing friend who is going deaf, and thought I'd see what you guys knew...

I just saw something on this withing the last week. There is a device that gives off a vibration and it's mounted on MDs as a conversion. I believe I saw it in an article about an organized hunt in American Digger.

I'm at work so I can't look now to see if there was any name or anything. But they're out there and I think probably your larger sellers could be of assistance.

How about this?

Vibra-Phone 280 Replaces Headphones with Vibration

It might work, Beale.

Default Silent Search

There is an add in Lost Treasure magazine for Silent Search that plugs into the headphone jack and illuminates when there would be an audio signal. Pretty much just a headphone plug with a red light bulb. Did a web search and there are a couple of places online that sell it, but I could not find a company website. The add says it is not currently available for Bounty Hunter or First Texas MDs.

Okay, I finally got a chance to look at the article I had seen. It's in the May-June issue of American Digger, page 22. It's a sidebar on some hearing impaired diggers who use the Vibra Phone 280 which is what Beale linked to above.

HTH!

Just make a vibrator plugged into the earphone. You could use any detector they make.

Say the Piezo with a step up transformer element from a cell phone?

I sold my XTerra 50 to a lady who is profoundly deaf and cannot wear earphones, she loves the machine and is finding good stuff...the ID is so large she digs by numbers.
