Default Cleaning All That Clad

Well I'm sure you all get a lot of clad when your hunting just like me & some of it is pretty dirty can barely tell what it is yet alone see a date on the coins. Well here is a super easy way to shine it all up. Just use your tumbler I know you got one, dump in a handful of aquarium plain rocks, dump in a bunch of clad (don't mix your copper pennies with this clad) add some water to cover all the coins & rocks & then squirt in your favorite liquid dish soap at least a tablespoonful. Sealer up & let it tumble for multiple hours. When it's done dump everything through a strainer & rinse it off, if they still look dirty, then just run them again with clean water & more soap. When clean to your satisifcation then dumb the rock & coins in a strainer & rinse them off, them dump them through a screen that will let the rocks through but not the coins over a bowl so your rocks don't go down the drain. I just use my little hand beach basket scoop. Then dump your coins out on a towel in a single layer & dry them off & your ready for your next batch. See attached photo's of the Quarters, Dimes & Nickels from my last two hunts dirty how them came out of the ground & after cleaning. Not Bad Results wouldn't you say!!! FYI I assume you all have enough common sense to NEVER EVER do this on important dated coins or coins that could have significate value as you could destroy their value by cleaning them in any way. Always remember if you attempt to clean any coin you do so at your own risk & you should only clean coins you can afford to loose if they are damaged by cleaning.
Never attempt to clean a coin of value yourself!!!

Hey Georgia Girl tumblers can be a wee pricy or cheap depending. A lot of people have reported good success with one carried by harbor Freight.

Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

The only issue I have read is about the weak O-ring.

I bought a Lortone tumbler. They are a bit more expensive. My hope is that I will have less issue with it?

Good luck to you with the tumbler, Beale.

I use a tumbler. Sand from the front yard and soap and water. Works good. I had a 30lb bag of the glass beads they use to make the road lines show at nite but there gone. They worked real good.
