Default New Sites Discovered Should Be Fun!

A few days ago I was hunting near a small town where I use to live & decide to stop at an old high school friends farm & asked him about an old church & cemetary on their farm that goes back to the 1830s or so. So we hop in his truck & drives me back to show me where it is. Small cemetary still there but the church is long gone so now I can hunt there he says when ever I want.
He also showed me on their property where a house & barn use to be that date back to the same time period, but there just depressions in the ground now so if he hadnt't shown me I would have never know what was there, also have to either have a 4 wheel drive to get to them or hike probably a good half mile to get to them, so they may just have to wait for another time.

2nd discovery came today, ever done this drive by a place many times & not really see it, then like today I'm driving by to go stop for a slice of pizza for lunch & there is this huge open area of grass with ball fields & soccer fields & it's a middle school that dates starting 1951.

I'm like if it's like other school lots it could be loaded with coins & a good chance of some silver being it was ther since 51.

I guess my point is that once you are in detecting mode you look at things & see things differently, because I have driven by this place many times & then today I see it & I'm like dang how did I not notice it or think of it as a possible place to hunt before. So keep your eyes open, take a different road home some day just for the heck of it & see if you don't come up with some new places to hunt.

Good idea! It sounds like it worked for you. I hope your new spot yields good results for sure, Beale.

You're right - I look at everything in a "treasure hunting" mode now!

Soooo many places... Sooooo much treasure....Sooooo little time to check them all out. Since getting a metal detector I do the same thing the rest of you are doing. I find myself looking at new areas with D'ing and digging in mind. These 2 spots you describe sound great. They could keep you busy for a long time by themselves, but if your like me you never quit looking!!
