Hi, all,
I did not have a good week last week. I went to the beach on Friday and it was like someone had sifted everything out of the sand. There was NOTHING! Then I did a couple of school playgrounds Saturday and Sunday; found a few coins but that's about it. I ran into a guy with a MD yesterday morning; he told me he's been doing it for years and since so many people are into it now, there's very little to find. There is so much construction going on in town. There's an old house and barn between a Lowe's and a new mall that's going to be bulldozed soon. So I call the management company that listed it to see if I could get permission to hunt there and they said no. I offered to sign a hold-harmless document, but they weren't having any of it. Oh, well, maybe I'll give it a rest this week. Very discouraging. M. |

It just isn't so, there is plenty to find. we just need to go find the right spots and beaches replenish themselves after a good storm. I know I have so many places to detect that I could never hunt them all. And the more I read on my local history the more hot spots I will find. You can do the same. Buy books on your local history and read them, you'll be happy that you did

I think at some point early in the hobby every single treasure hunter has these feelings I assure you the guy you talked with is totaly wrong. Now saying that there may be times that you have to retune your detector, hit a spot right after a light rain, even after the ground freezes and thaws you will find stuff. If a coin is on edge and the ground moves may move to to a more detectiable spot.
Lot of times I will hunt a area for all the prime targets and then move the discrimination down a notch and then again and again. I will dig all targets in hopes of a false target. I know this sounds like a lot of work but we have to give are self the edge the other guy was not willing to go to. Or when I like to say to lazy to do the work. I have a therory that most people that pick up a MD think it is easy as walking down the street.I have to say ever time I have ever been out I can honestlly say I give it everything I had. Pappy always says research.I can personlly say this is truly the key to the good finds. I know when I hunt with people I do a lot more digging than most just cause I do not want to miss anything. I hope you understand what we are tring to say to you and I hope you never give up I sorry you feel the way you do , but I assure you we have all felt that way at some point. Just like the guy you ran into the other moring look at it like this he feels like it is hunted out good let him think that way more for you and me lol just remeber if it get so bad just step back take a break and hit it full speed. ![]() |
