Default OK, Here's what NOT to do!

I went out detecting in this campsite that was closed down in 1986. Since a bear has been spotted hanging around the site, and because I was alone, I decided to take my bear spray. I walked to the farthest corner, and started MDing. Soon I came across a board on a blind, with a couple nails sticking out. I didn't want anyone to get hooked on them, so tried to bend them over with my thumb. They were to hard, so I grabed my bear spray can and taped them with it. Not a good idea! It poked a hole in the side, instantly spraying the entire can in my face. I couldn't see or breath! I managed to get to a creek, and tried to wash the stuff off, but no luck, the stuff is horrible! I couldn't breath except in gasps and could not drink. luckily there was a truckstop near, where I managed to get help. I always wondered how well bear spray would work, now I know. It works good, and puts one out of commission for about two hours, with constant flushing. A bear would probably be hurtin longer. I didn't get back except to retrieve my gear.

Whoa! Real happy you were able to get help. I'll make note and learn from you. I can't even imagine how panicked you must have felt.

Good to hear you're okay, though. Take someone with you next time!!!

and a hammer.

Okay, I've managed to stop rolling on the floor, laughing my @ss off. Very Sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident with the can of bear spray. I'm pretty certain that you will absolutely, never, ever, not even for one second, consider using a can of bear spray to pound nails in the future.
Your intentions were honourable but sometimes things just go sideways in a real hurry.

Sorry, I've got to end this post because of the tears in my eyes just thinking about it,

That is some nasty stuff and to take a hit like that is worse than anything. Now they will have to put 'Do not use to bang nails' on the side of the can. Hope you are o.k. now. Next time try to find a rock to hit those nails down. When are you going back to detect the camp?

First.... glad you are OK. Second....hahahaha! That's funny as all get out. I love the title..."Ok..here is what not to do" and the phrase.."instantly spraying the entire can in my face". Not just some.....but the ENTIRE can! Classic.
