Now, to the opinion (and remember, this is just the way I feel)......A lot of folks from N.O. believe that the world owes them a great big handout and it got bigger when Katrina hit. The phrase "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" proved evident and the handouts came. When the handouts were given, many still were not satisfied. I do understand that a number of N.O. residents didn't have insurance and those that did was not properly compensated by the insurance companies. Because of that, many residents needed help. The problem comes when someone doesn't want to help themselves and wants the government the take care of them. So, instead of rebuilding or relocating and going on with their lives, many sit in their government owned trailers and complain about their situation. In contrast, my brother lives in N.O. and lost everything he owned due to the 8' of water in his house. In less than a year, my brother (who loves living in N.O.) was able to rebuild his existing home and move in. He had the desire to rebuild and make the best out of a terrible situation.......I say all this to say that it boils down to motivation......If you want to move on, you will

Thanks for letting me vent.
Chris
You are absolutely right, Chris! Kudos to you and your brother!

Hollywood should do what they do best. Entertain, and stay out of politics. They come across smarter that way.

It's easy to appear smart when somebody smart wrote the script and you just read the lines. It makes me wonder who's writing the script when these actors are trying to appear smart on political issues? Maybe it is their own thoughts but maybe it's just another role to be played.

So who are the latest Hollywood types moving to another country if they don't get their own way when their candidate loses the election. I know I do all my voting based on their decision to leave.

Wait...I just had this great idea, if I don't find any silver on my next hunt I'm moving to England to hunt in the fields.

Default I have been totally amazed.......

Watching the media coverage of all the working-class men, women and children filling sand bags and working their hind-parts off to help EVERYBODY out. And I mentally compared it to the New Orleans disaster. And I wondered "where are all the "complainers"?(being politically correct) Well, tonight I got my answer. Watching the news, they were showing footage of some sort of give-away coupon centers for free food and stuff, and there appeared to be some "scandalous" activity going on in this give-away program. Guess who WASN'T in THAT footage? Yep......the 'missing" folks were still out working to solve the problems, while the "complainers" had their hands out for something free.

kudos to you, crbhood! Your post is dead on. My brother and his wife also lost their home. They have rebuilt their home and while things will never be what they once were in NO, their life is normal again.

I hope you never have to go through it again, crbhood. I wish no one would have to face it again but with mother nature being what she is, we do the best we can to deal with her.

You're right, Eric. ALL of the media in the U.S. is controlled by political correctness, from the top on down, including the local and national news, sitcoms, sports, movies, etc. If an idiot can act, he is no more than a puppet on a string(at least that goes for alot of them)

Being 'politically correct' is something I've never been accused of.(hard to imagine isn't it?) Being polite and courteous is something my mother and father pounded into me at an early age and I thank them for it. I do believe that if I were rude and discourteous today, tomorrow my sweet and wonderful, 73ear old Mother would hop a plane to Bermuda and give me a good slap upside the head to rattle back into place whatever had come lose up there.
"Always be polite to others Eric, it costs nothing more to be nice" she would always say and the words still ring true today.
If someone wants to be rude or selfish or a horse's @ss, I have no problem telling them about it but I'll darn sure be polite when I tell them!

Cheers,

I think it was Winston Churchill who said: "Diplomacy is the ability to tell a man to go to hell, and have him happy to be on his way!"

I try to practice that approach.
