Hollywood and the main stream media only react to politically charged situations that satisfy their perception of what's wrong with America and the plight of Middle America is not of concern to the so called "Elite". Where's the outrage over FEMA or the President . If that situation moved to Detroit it would be nonstop coverage and outrage Just my opinion based on too many years of following political correctness and not blaming FEMA or the President as it's a matter of humans attemting to overcome the Forces of Nature. There is always two side of the fence!

New Orleans is below sea level and they chose to live there!

The Big rivers have flooded every few years and people chose to live there.

I live in the Desert and had to put my mobile home up 3 ft due to it being in a "POTENTIAL FLOAD PLAIN"

The Land An't Cheap for nothing!!!!

Now, to the opinion (and remember, this is just the way I feel)......A lot of folks from N.O. believe that the world owes them a great big handout and it got bigger when Katrina hit. The phrase "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" proved evident and the handouts came. When the handouts were given, many still were not satisfied. I do understand that a number of N.O. residents didn't have insurance and those that did was not properly compensated by the insurance companies. Because of that, many residents needed help. The problem comes when someone doesn't want to help themselves and wants the government the take care of them. So, instead of rebuilding or relocating and going on with their lives, many sit in their government owned trailers and complain about their situation. In contrast, my brother lives in N.O. and lost everything he owned due to the 8' of water in his house. In less than a year, my brother (who loves living in N.O.) was able to rebuild his existing home and move in. He had the desire to rebuild and make the best out of a terrible situation.......I say all this to say that it boils down to motivation......If you want to move on, you will

Thanks for letting me vent.

I drove thru the NO area 2 years after Katrina. I could only imagine what the folks there felt. But I do agree, you can't just wait for help, you have to pick up the pieces and move on. That takes first of all, Motivation.
