Default Locating Older Parks Research Question

Hello everyone I have a question for you all, anybody have any tips on how to locate older parks in cities? I'm gona be in SC in July so I sent an email to the parks people in Clemson asking them about their parks & they responded back with a list & the oldest park on the list was 1972 & I'm like your kidding.

Another thing that baffles me is if you go to MSN map direction & type in Madison WI (Where I Live) you can then zoom in to any area that shows a little greenish tint on the map & it will tell you the park name or if it's a golf course etc and there are parks EVERYWHERE, but when you type in Clemson SC you get nothing at all, so I don't understand that at all, like there are no old parks that go way back in Clemsons history. I know you can use Google Earth also but when you zoom in it doesn't tell you anything or name landmarks etc.

So if any of you have any tips that you have used to find old city or county parks, ball fields, fair grounds etc please let me know. Thanks Everyone!!!

Cya,

Click on 'search the collection' and type in 'dane county plat map'. You should get a couple maps from the late 40's mid 50's. This site is also helpful if your traveling around WI.
