Default Gilley's club

gilley's club here in Pasadena Texas was unpaid on alot of back taxes to the state.
Pasadena Independent School District bought the land.
They intend to clear the land and build a school someday.

I have contacted PISD and have explained to them my intentions and basically presented my case.
Looking at the aspect that it was a major part of country music history.

Hopefully they will let me metal detect the land.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, maybe they will send me a positve reply.

Doug

DougDann,
I spent my 15th bday there and I actually got to dance with Steve Wariner! Gilley's has a special place in my heart. Good luck with that!

Default Gilley's..... good news

I will call in the morning and or next time he is in the office and make the final arrangements.
Looks promising and hopefully there will be a final okay and I will find some interesting items.

Here is there message:

"Dear Doug,

Thanks for your letter of interest. I see no problem with your search of Gilley’s for “historical items.” Obviously, anything you find there would be property of Pasadena ISD. That being said, I can’t imagine anything that would be valuable to us, unless something is found that the future school principal might find interesting for his or her trophy case. So, all we ask is that you provide a list of items you find with the understanding that we have the right of first refusal on any piece. Most likely, we’ll be okay releasing everything to you, but I want to leave our options open.

The attribution of the district on your website is appreciated.

If you agree to those conditions, we can make arrangements for you to visit the site. Contact Julian Garcia, associate superintendent for facilities. The site will be demolished in early summer.

Thank you for your interest.

Kirk Lewis

Deputy Superintendent for Administration"

Well, kind of disappointing.
After some positive responses.
They became hesitant, talking about safety.

Now I'm being ignored.
One guy says yes and the other I can tell is now a little bothered.
I don't want to be annoying.
Been over a month since they said they would call back.
Would like to try one more phone call, but will probably back off and persue other places.

Well, unfortunately it won't happen.
I finally talked the school district and they said they are worried about liability.
Didn't want to be responsible if I got hurt.
The building itself is still standing, but several decent fires have made it unstable.
I said I would stay out of the building. But that didn't work.
Oh well, I tried.
I've been shot down several times lately, so I'm getting used to it.

It's a big state thought and plenty of area to work with. (smile)
