It would be a hunt- ender to run that into a finger!!! I've started to wear gloves also. I spied a hypodermic needle a few days ago and i started changing my ways since. Plus it helps to keep the hands from drying out from all the dirt.

I just bought a pair of kevlar gloves and am planning to mend my ways. I find most gloves to be very bulky but I'm going to have to learn to adapt. Especially since I just got permission to search a yard in a rather dubious neighborhood. I'll locate the property markers in exchange for hunting the yard - the house is 100+ yrs old.

Good idea Ric. I have worn gloves sence the start. I actually found a hypodermic needle once in a hole I was digging. Broken glass, can slaw, etc. That was all the push I needed. Good post, Beale.

I have neglected to wear them at most sites. Other sites I wear them to fend off the poison ivy! I ended up with the ivy anyway. It seems the oil from the plant sticks to the coil and cable and stuff so when I took my gloves off to put the detector away I came in contact with it. A couple different times I have dug through a broken beer bottle to retrieve a target. Gloves are a great idea!!

I always wear gloves except when I'm water detecting and pick out my finds from the scoop.
