I am not familiar with the whites classic, I believe it is a good machine.............but I would be wary about buying from someone who knows nothing about it, does he say it belongs to him!!!!!!!!

Hi Diggerbarns,

The Classic IDX is a 2 filter, single tone detector that uses 8 AA batts. The detector requires a moderate to slow swing speed for best target separation and has a quick recovery reset. Uses the same coils as the XLT. There is NO depth reading but there is some audio modulation so deeper targets become a bit softer.

The IDX has the ability to ID targets in all metal and the outstanding Black Sand mode allows a more refined lower band discrimination at iron infested sites.

I paid $275 for an excellent condition IDX Pro about 3 years ago and would think the factory IDX should go for $200-$225 in prime condition and less if well used. Great detector at sites with low density modern trash. Just a few thoughts. HH Bill
