I can tell you about both. (Live in Europe).
But not without telling you I agree with what Beale said. XP, for instance quote has no plans to support the export of their products outside Europe unquote. First Adonis : forget it. yes, that's it. Maybe within a few years, but no. They seem to have problems tu upgrade from the test phase. XP is a french brand . Excellent LAND machines. (I own the entry model, XP ADX 100). Very good on dry sand too. Both the Gold Maxx and the G Maxx feature 3-tone audio ID. Those detectors are reputed for one feature : DEPTH ![]() On my Belgian MD forum, most begin with an ACE 250, switching after only a few months to a GOLDMAXX power after looking at the finds made with this impressive machine. Still, it is always a bit risky to buy a machine with no factory after sales support in the country, unless you are an electronician yourself or know a good one. The units are rugged, well built and very reliable, though. Low battery drain too (35hrs with 8x2000 Nimh AA) Hope this answers your question. HH Nick.

Those two companies offer features US manufacturers should've included years ago.
Wireless headphones On-the-fly freq shift Better iron masking Ability to silence the rogue tones from pieces/angles of iron Fine tuning of sensitivity setting AND Adonis has USB connectivity for software upgrades and recording of finds.... I've read that Adonis will soon offer a "learning" machine where you'll be able to identify your finds so the MD can learn to discriminate better depending on your "technique" and ground mineralization. I recently went out using my F4, my son using his Ace250 and my Dad using his Coinmaster 3900 purchased in the early 80's. We all had the same level of success (and failure). The 3900 can discriminate and pinpoint with a mid-level priced machine from over 20 years ago! AND it was only 4 ounces heavier than the F4!! I can't help but feel the industry is playing games with the marketing of bells and whistles that in reality change nothing (and sometimes make things MORE complicated with no benefit). Check out the almost unbelievable recovery speed. Check out Norfolk's GTI tests on youtube to see the difference.
