I wish I could help you but I am a little confused about the laws in general. I thought city parks were okay but had read on here that some places might not permit it. I was curious about the county library. The one here is in an older neighborhood and they have a huge yard out front of it. I guess I just need to ask them if they mind if I detect out there. I haven't been doing this long and have really just been detecting in the large lot next door, getting quite a few wheat pennies. I guess I am afraid someone will tell me no but I will have to branch out soon. Good luck to you on the fairgrounds. I have heard they are great places to hunt.

Default Fairgrounds

A.J., I have hunted many fairgrounds and I must say that they are among my favorites. I usually go to the County Sheriffs Office and they put me in touch with one of the County Commissioners who in turn let me know if it is O.K. to detect...Good luck on your quest buddy....PAPPY

P.S. If you get permission...Be sure to detect where they have the livestock shows very carefully...That's where I have located most of my SIVLER....PAPPY

Hi AJ Im not sure if your still looking for info on this topic, but here the county extention office has jurisdiction of the fair grounds, it was an easy task to get permission to hunt the fair grounds here, and I agree with pappy check the livestock area, this fairgounds here has been in the same location since the early 1930's Happy Hunting !!

good luck AJ but be prepared to dig about a ton of trash.Went to the fairgrounds here yesterday and found 50 cents ,an old jacknife.and a ton of pulltabs.but i know that theres got to be some good stuff still there as most jewelry gives the same signal as pulltabs and tinfoil.
