Does anyone carry a sidearm?

From the land of the Bluenose...wow that is a nasty thought...a gun when detecting. Couldn't get away with that in this country. When threatened we just throw smoked macheral at the yeggs or a flounder or two. Hard to detect with 50 cats around . 15 years carrying a gun as apoliceman was enough for me and sold evey one I had after I went into another job...including hunting rifles.

Definitely a harsh thought about carrying a gun while detecting.
But sometimes it's good to feel safe in strange areas.
never know what can happen.

The pepper spray is a good idea.

Not sure of the legalities of carrying a knife on the oyur side, but I did buy a knife.
Although more for a collecting interest, but it could be carried with me.
but not in most circumstances. Only when in unfamiliar areas away from home.
