Default Couple of Questions

Good day all... I have a few questions for everyone. First off, how many of you ever done a seeded hunt before? Is anyone from the group going to the Beach Hunt on the 21st of May in the Virginia Beach area? Here's my story... I seen this add for the hunt in Lost Treasure magazine, so I called the organizer about it last night. I have never been to one, so I wanted to get some information on it. Anyway, he told me that since I was new to the hobby, he would recommend that I just watch and not enter this time. Sounds like a neat hunt to me. If anyone wants the information reguarding this hunt, I can email it to them. Also was wondering if anyone has ever done well at one of these!!
Thanks Gary (Gunny)

Default Just Watch!!!!

Gunny, I've never participated in a seeded hunt either; however, I just don't think that it can be so complicated that the organizer would suggest that you sit it out and watch.......I don't think that was a smart public relations move!!! I just can't see Gregory or PAPPY saying something like that if our "family" had a seeded hunt. Having never attended one, maybe there's something here I don't know???

Just my thoughts......

Thats what I thought, how hard could this actually be? He said that maybe I should learn my machine alittle better before I entered a hunt like this. He said that I probably wouldn't have fun???

I guess I will have to go up there and show them how its done!! LOL

Default Hunt

WELL I MUST SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT ONE BEFORE ! I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT GENTLEMAN HAD BEEN SMOKING BUT THINGS DON'T SOUND RIGHT. I HAVE BEEN IN MANY SEEDED HUNT AND I DON'T SEE HOW IN THE WORLD YOU COULD HELP BUT HAVE FUN..AND MAYBE WIN A FEW PRIZES AT THE SAME TIME. DON'T SEEM LIKE VERY GOOD PUBLIC RELATIONS TO ME. MAYBE THE GUY HAD A BAD NIGHT AND HAD HIS MIND ON SOMETHING ELSE.
GUNNY, GET IN THAT HUNT...YOU WILL HAVE FUN...I GUARANTEE IT !!...PAPPY

Default I agree with everyone..

..go for it. How hard can it be and everyone who is there had to have a first time too. Did see a small seeded hunt on the GPAA show. They look like fun.

Sounds like they are trying to keep the prizes local to me, and that to me is a good reason to go and win the big one !!!

Go get em Gunny !!

Default hunt!!!!

i've been to one seeded hunt in dallas and it was a blast!! i got involved the day before and helped set it up, planting coins and such. they are not hard but theres usually alot of people in them. they bury coins and tokens for the big prizes. and your chances are good for digging up something that will stay in your memories! the one i was at had a privite hunt for the people who helped set it up, it was fun a field of silver dimes from merqs to barbers, and i got about 30 coins from it, my first hunt it was great i say go, help, pertisapate, and have fun. let that other guy "watch"!

I can't believe a person would have the nerve to say that to you.If you wanna go "GO" and i'm sure you'll have lots of fun, meeting fellow detectorists and learning first hand about other detectors and who knows you may get grand prize. But the real prize is just getting out and doing something you enjoy.Have fun and good luck.HH Bill
