Default Check this out!

This almost sounds to good to be true to me. If you use EBAY check out auction#3972862517. Iam currently the high bidder on this. Either the person selling this doesn't know what he has, or its a pretty good scam!?

Good buy if I can get it for that!!!

I don't know either.
What is it?

Don't worry, I only buy ancient coins.
I won't jump on your bid.

Hello I looked at this item and i think it is a scam.If you read it says 1 lot of 3 so your bidding on 3 coins not one and it doesent specificly state that it is the same as in the picture so beware of paying to much as your bid will be tripled.

What is special about that penny?
The date and mint?

Default Just don't know.......

I don't know about this one, Gunny. Lets give it the old plus and minus test:
1. Seller is new to selling on Ebay. Only three prior sales. MINUS
2. One of his only three sales resulted in a negative feedback. MINUS
3. Sale description said the coin was "uncertified." MINUS
4. For wanting to sell such a valuable coin, his description was very poor.
MINUS
5. Selling a valuable coin with a starting bid of 15 cents. MINUS
6. Selling a valuable coin with no reserve. MINUS

The only plus I can think of is that in a couple weeks we can go back and read the buyers feedback and see what he thinks about his $31.00 penny.
Just my thoughts, Gary....

Ed,

I agree 100% with you. I only bid $20.00... Iam a gambling man!! LOL
If it turns out to be a good auction, the winner got a good deal.
Gary

Doug,
Some of the 1955's had a "double die error" Resulting in doubling of the date, and writing on the obverse of the coin. Pretty rare coin, even in only good condition its worth about $250. This coin would be probably in the f/vf condition for around $500 or so.... You can see the doubling in the picture.

Thankyou Gary,
I see it now.

Interesting coin.

Have to agree with ED, suspicious way to present a valualbe.

One more post on this and I'll shut up. Reference to my post above:

I, by no means, meant to belittle the seller of the coin. I just wanted to see if he and his coin could pass the old plus and minus test. They did not pass; however, this does not mean that this seller is a crook. I did not mean to imply that. If he is an honest guy trying to make an honest buck, then I salute him and wish him the best of luck with his Ebay endeavors. If he turns out to be a crook...then, shame, shame, shame on him....
I'll shut up now....Thanks
