Default Where do you Detect ?

Hi Everyone !!

I wanted to share one of my favorite places to detect with all of you !!

This School house was built in 1916 can anyone say 1916-D everytime I get out here I think this is the time !!!I have found several Mercs here and a dozen IHC's,,The school was the K-12 until 1965 when the new elementary was built also pictured ,, it remained the high scool until 1970 when the new High School was finished it has not been used since,, the second photo is of the old football field directly behind the school house, its a large area !!

The sign on the steps of the school is an attempt to have the building list as a state historical site,, although I like the building I may not be able to hunt there any more if that happens,, one of the best things about this site is I live across the street

Rick

Hello,i just whent back to the school where in the past i had found alot of silver, this spot has been hit hard by myself and many others. But i still found 1 1906 barber dime,1 buffalo nickel,1 liberty nickel,1 indian head penny and 2 wheatbacks, and about $2.00 in clad coins.I also found about a ton of pulltabs and quite a few pencil stubs. This scool was built in the 1930s,but still produced some nice older coins. The dime is the 4th barber dime that i have found since i started detecting back in the early 70s (the 3rd was last week at the local swimming hole that also was hunted hard) I got the idea to cheack the ball diamand from this site and found the indian on 1st base and the rest where the grandstand once stood. This site is no longer in use(since the 1990s).good luck...Terry

Default Old Schools !!!

Hey , medalman !! It funny ya had a post about old schools !!! I went to this 1910 school that is now the school bus parking lot . BUT there is a field about three acres in the back of the building that I detected part of today and came home with a 1941 Merc dime and an about size 12 mans HUGE gold ring that appears to be pretty old , it as about 5 " down !! 1 Franklin Half dollar ! Those old schools are GREAT places to hunt !!! KEEP GOING medalman and I hope they dont make the school you hunt a landmark of historical importance !!! The city did that to an old grist mill by the river in my town and even put up a big sign that says ( NO MOTOR VEHICLES ) ( NO MEDAL DETECTING BEYOND THIS AREA ) !!!! THAT SUCKS because , before they put this ridiculous sign up I found about 7- late 1800s to early 1900s coins there !!!! WTG medalman !!HAPPY HUNTING !!!KENNETH

Default Old schools can be fun!

Hi Folks!

I've hunted a bunch of schools here in SWW... No great coins yet, but I did find a gold ring at the school across from my house last year.
One interesting thing I've noticed here is that the schoolyards are full of live ammunition, spent shell casings, and fired bullets.
Recess must have been murder until just recently!

HH! -Tom
