From the land of the Bluenose....wouldn't write off your present machine even though I've only ever used a Garrett. Sometimes one does go through a bit of a rough time trying to find something decent. Just remember ...you go out, dug and enjoyed the hobby. Comes a time in life when one will not be able to go a digging and swishing......dreadful thought that it may be!

When I go detecting say, at an old school ya gotta think SMALL areas to cover throughly with a medal detector ya dont have ta cover the entire area in one day !! It dont matter what brand of detector ya got !! Its the person swinging the coil that finds the goodies BUT ya gotta understand what your detector is telling ya !!! HEY !! I have been detecting for 6 years now and stiil having ALOT of fun !!! I come home emty handed sometimes to, as I am sure everyone on this forum has sometimes !!! HAPPY HUNTING!!! KENNETH

rob, it's obvious your hunting woods and fields out in the middle of nowhere, just kidding :) One thing that may help in this type of hunting at least for me it does ,try to find concentrated areas of thin rusty debris as they could be older campsites or picnic grounds.Check along streams and ponds.Looks like your detector is capable of finding lower end metals just fine so the only thing you need to do is find places where the higher end metals lurk.Good luck and the Ace 250 is a fine machine and if your open to another suggestion perhaps you could check out the Minelab Advantage or a Fisher 1236 they are both excellent detectors for hunting in iron sites and their discrimination capabilities and recovery speed are superb.HH Bill
