Can you tell me a little about this?

It looks like a respirator for mining but not sure.

yes that is one of the earlier models of self rescue machines that come out.that one was made in the 40s.dad carried one of them.those were worthless in smoke.the new ones have and hour of oxy in them and are 4 times bigger had to carry it on your side at all times seemed to weigh 50 lb betime the shift was over hehe..... CREEKRAT...wva
