Default finding a buried car

would a metal detector be able to find a car that was buried underground 40 years ago? a friend of mine that builds classic cars got word of a car made in the 50's with a hemi in it buried in a old guys yard. he really wants that hemi and the guy said we could take the car if we find it. the old guy said his father buried the car somewere on the property when he was younger. he said his father dug the hole by hand. cars in the 50's werent small so this must have taken alot of digging, im thinkin the roof of the car wouldnt be over 4 feet under the earth. we searched half the yard today and are going back tomarrow. we are gonna try to find the car with the tector (if i get a continuous signal for 14 feet its prolly the car. or a septic tank lol. then use a probe to see how deep it is.

Hi Eric,

The probe would be a good tool. Mine is around 4 ft

If there is a car buried could you imagine the halo it would give off

If its there you should have no problem locking on to it. Hunt in all metal mode if you can.

Good luck and this would make a good story if found,

Greg

hes not really a friend. just a crazy old man. this was the second car his father buried. i dont know about this one but the first, a rare 1956 chevy corvette, his father cut in half with a blow torch and buried in 2 different spots in the yard. just because the new paint job didnt come out how he liked. just one of the many crazies in my town. lol.

It would be cool to find both, wouldn't it? I would exercise a little caution, though.....there is no tellin' what else might be buried back there. If the guy was that nutso....you might dig it up and find a body in it...

Default Finding car

I found a 1960 T-Bird once. A guy had a yard full of junk and the city made him clean it up. Out from under some of the junk came the T-Bird. All he said was, "Darn, I forgot I had that"! Last time I saw it it was behind a wrecker enroute to impound. AgOro

Try searching the far back corners of the property, even into the woods (if there is any). A lot of growth can occur in 50 years. Swiz
