Default discrimination question

This has probably asked before, but I can't figure it out.
Using Jeff Fosters book I get to Discrimination edit. He reccomends Rej.-95 to -41 and Acc. -40 to +95.

I can only get one number on the screen. So do I go to the lowest number and go up or the highest number and go down???????
Then do I load it and after it is loaded go to preset programs and click save it.

Every time I do it the darned thing reverts back to the origional settings.
I could really use some help here.
Thanks everyone .

Default If you are using a Whites brand detector..

you may want to ask rcsnake. he helped me out a bunch.I dug a whole lot of small deep targets Sunday, unlucky for me they where all junk...LOL. you have to store/save new settings or every time you turn off the detector it goes back to preset levels.

HEY Bill here is a answer I got on another forum.

Hi Boobie let me take a shot at this:
I am going to present this to you making some references to the DISC edit setting as well because Disc edit will allow you to check the changes you have made in Block edit without actually accidentally changing the settings you have programmed.

Okay here we go fire up the machine and go to the program you want to change once there go to your (Block edit Mode). Once you are there you will see on the left side of the screen two selection fields. they are the squares next to the word accept and below that next to the word reject. there will be a check mark in one of the two fields either reject or accept to your right there will be a number it will be either positive or negative. Lets say for example it shows the number +36. And the box next to reject is checked. To set up the pattern you want hit the enter key( once )you will notice that the +36 gets surrounded by a large rectangular square. You are now in the block edit mode where you can change the pattern. What you do now is push and hold the left arrow pad the one pointing down. Hold it till the numbers rapidly scroll all the way to -95, then move your thumb over to the rt arrow key( the one pointing up ) Now at this point you have rejected everything from +36 down to -95. That isnt important the only reason we took this step was to get you to the bottom of the scale so we would have a starting point. It doesn't matter if you start at the top or the bottom I always go to the bottom because thats how most people post their programs. Ok so we are now going to push the up arrow and hold it till we get close to -41 as you are approaching -41 you can let off the key and then punch the key quickly and release quickly to scroll one number at a time one increment at a time so to speak so that you dont fly past -41 . Ok , once you get to -41 go up one more number which will be -40 . At this point push the enter button( once )you will notice the check mark moves from reject to the accept position. then push and hold the up arrow key again till you scroll all the way up the scale to +95. There are two things you can do at this point you can check your settings or you can just begin hunting. If you want to just start hunting after you have done this last step just pull the pinpoint trigger toward you and release it and you will be in the hunting mode. My suggestion is to check your work a couple of times after making changes to your disc pattern by doing this procedure.... Once you have scrolled up to +95 like we just went through. Hit the menu button (once) you will notice the rectangle thats wrapped around +95 moves to the words Block Edit. At this point push the Up Arrow key (once )and you will go to the Disc Edit mode. Push the enter key (once) and then push the Down arrow key while watching the numbers scroll by and you can view the changes you made in block edit without actually changing anything. you can go back up or down without changing anything when you are satisfied hit the trigger once and you will return to the search or hunting mode. I hope this helps and I didnt confuse you further. This procedure is much easier to explain over the phone or to demonstrate first hand. If you find you need further help shoot me a pm with your number and I will be glad to call you and walk you through the process. As far as saving the changes you have made do this:
Once satisfied with the changes you have made and pulled the trigger to begin detecting instead of detecting hit the menu button... when you do this the prest program menu item should come up if so ... then press enter (once) then using an arrow key scroll down to one of the EEPROM programs. I would suggest the DEMO program. Once their press enter (once )you will see three options LOAD,SAVE or NAME. Again using the arrow key scroll down to SAVE Hit Enter (once) and you will see the screen blink briefly. Then you will be right back to the same option screen you can then scroll to (name ) hit enter and change the name of the demo program to something else or just hit the trigger once and you will go to the hunt mode . If you opt to go to the hunt mode you will need to Re-Air and Ground balance before using your program . In any event at this stage you will have your new settings stored in the former Demo mode. The next time you start the DFX hit enter after start up scroll down to the EEPROM DEMO program and hit enter to load the program and this will actually be the program you just saved. Remember you can only save programs over the EEPROM custom programs they are, DP-SILVER, HI-TRASH, DEMO, or HI-PRO. HH Dave
