Default Traded my sixgun for an Eagle Spectrum

That may sound funny, given my user name....but I really did. A buddy of mine bought a black Eagle Spectrum detector in 1993 and used it probably 3 times....and put it in the closet where it's sat for all these years. It is like brand new. I traded him my .44-40 caliber Ruger Vaquero for it. It should be an OK trade...because I never even fire the Ruger....and I'll use the detector.

..now....if I can only learn to use it.

I don't know much about MD's but I know firearms and I hope you got a decent deal because that Ruger was probably worth $600.00 plus and I am not sure a 10 year old detector would be worth that much, but I could be wrong. 44-40 That is a hand cannon for sure!!!!! I am glad I don't have to choose between my detector or my guns because it would be a very hard choice!!!! I hope you find lots of good stuff and can buy the gun back real soon!!

I guess I'd just rather shoot coins than targets....and I paid 300 bucks for the Ruger a few years ago. I'll get more use from the detector for sure. I can still lay waste to intruders with my Ithaca model 37 if push comes to shove. I'll never be completely disarmed.

That Ruger costs a fortune to shoot.....about 77 cents per shot....and I don't reload my own ammo.

You stolethat gun for $300.00. I agree with you it is not a very practical pistol. I haven't shot a 44-40 in a pistol just a rifle and the round is intimadating to say the least. Kick was to bad, but in a handgun, it would not something I would want to do more than a few times!!! I have my Glock 23 in 40 cal. with two 15 round clips, all the stopping power a man needs. When MDin in the woods I like my S&W 629 in 4" with snake shot. I also have a 629 in 8.5" But it is scoped for deer hunting. Glad to see there are other friendly members. I really do think going with somebody else would make it fun! Good luck.

Hi Rick.......I'm sure this will take some time to learn. I'm so used to my old analog machine. This is my first foray into the world of computerized LCD display machines. I'm hoping that I'll get the hang of it. I won't get it until monday when I'm over where my buddy lives. He was busy working on a tractor today (I offered to help...but he declined)....so I'll get the new machine then.

Funny thing is....after we agreed to trade...I found my 6000DI Pro's battery charger. It was not being able to find that charger that led me to propose the trade since I will get a charger in the deal.

Oh well...I'm excited about the new machine....new "to me" that is. It actually has about 20 hours use on it....so it's pretty much in "like new" condition.

Hi Wyatt,

The Eagle Spectrum is an excellent detector and those Whites engineer's were way ahead their time in my opinion developing the SignaGraph bar and all the other firsts in the Eagle line and even today the XLT isn't that much different just went on the SlimFast diet. HH Bill

I think I must have made my 6000 mad, even contemplating being unfaithful to her.....because she just blew a gasket. It's good for a trip to the service department about once every 10 years....so I guess "time's up". Good thing I have a new machine to keep me occupied while this ones vacationing.
