Hey Boobie.......I decided to clean up the machine for it's trip to the service center....and I put it back together and it quit behaving badly. What it was doing.....was blasting my eardrums off in all metal mode whether it was near metal or not. It quit as suddenly as it started. I think maybe the 5 pins on the loop connection socket may have some light corrosion on them. I'm going to try cleaning them up and give it one last chance to "straighten up and fly right". Though it seems OK now, it will be good to have the spectrum in my flock so I won't be without a machine. I'll likely send it out over the winter months anyway, but as long as it's behaving....I'll keep it here. It's the one machine I really know how to use.
Actually....I'll have a Garrett soon too....one that I bought for my sister to use. She never used it, and she told me to come and get it since she'll never be going out MDing...I have got to go pick it up on monday as well (it's on the way back from getting the eagle), so I'll have 3 machines in a couple days (and only 2 hands). I lost the Garrett manual and will have to order another though because I don't even remember how to tune it. I don't know what model it is, but it takes 8 AA batteries and has an ID meter and an 8 inch (I think) coil...and is that grass green color.
My hope is that I can get the Mrs interested in swinging one of the machines. Somehow, I don't think that will turn out to be the case, but I intend to try just the same. She always says "we don't do anything together".....so either she starts doing something, or I quit doing everything.
