Default My Find Of The Year

I was hunting our largest city park with an out of state fellow THer. We were haveing a good ol time popping clad and a few wheaties when my friend Mike scored a nice braided style silver ring. I thought, great! he'll have a keepsake now to remember his Montana hunt with.
About 15 Min. later and perhaps 75' from where Mike scored his ring, I got a strong coin bell tone from my GTi 1500. I was about to pinpoint the target but seen somthing shiney, thinking it was a pulltab ring or an nickle sticking out of the ground. I was speachless when I pulled a Fire Opal ring in a solid silver setting from the ground. Only the narrow rear part of the band was sticking out of the ground.
The opal is oval shaped, 0.315" wide x 0.394" long x 0.216 high of which 1/3 of it is in the setting. I wish I had a scanner or camera so I could post a pic. for you folks.

I don't think I'll be able to top that find this year. My wife really likes the ring too!!

Default Real Nice Find!

I give all rings away to my love ones(wife, my mom
in laws,). I gave one ring to my wife for her birthday it was 10K, has a sapphire stone surronded by 8 diamonds. The jewelrist told me its worth $500.00
that was back in the late 80's. It might be worth a lot more today. Congrats on your ring!!

Default Way To Go !!!!!!

WAY TO GO PAPA GENE !!! About a year ago I was detecting the outside area of a rodeo arena and laying on top of the ground was a GOLD & DIAMOND ring !!! After cleaning it and my wife came home she IMEDIATELY confiscated it !!! A jewler friend of mine appraised it in the ballpark figure at $800.00 !!! Which brings me to the question ? WHY do people wear such EXPENSIVE jewlery to the rodeo grounds , beaches etc. ??? UNLESS they have more money than they know what to do with !!!! MUST BE NICE !!! HAPPY HUNTING !!! KENNETH
