Johnwpa came down my way for a two day hunt and the fall weather was beautiful.
On Monday we visited Albert Gallatin's home at Friendship Hill. It was built in 1798. This was just a walk through as there is no metal detecting permitted there.
Then we headed for the Monongahela River near Point Marion, PA to find the old Point Marion pottery. We did find some pottery pieces but not much else there. Stooped at a friends near by and he showed us a beautiful Greensboro Crook probably made late 1800's (photo below)
Tuesday we headed for my old stomping grounds near Grantsville Maryland. We located a few cellar holes on Dung hill road near my Grand pap's home town of Bittinger MD. This Mountain area is a hot bed for old time log cabins yet to be found. I have general locations but need to do some scouting. Found a few relics but the best find was the fresh Appalachian mountain air and the beautiful scenery. I snapped a few pictures and the guy with that tremendous smile is John digging near an old foundation. He was all smiles that day
I need to get back up there later this month but waiting on a few frosts to knock the weeds down some. Some 25 miles from this area is a Civil War skirmish area near Cumberland MD at the site of a Mill. I checked in the summer and it looks to be mostly wooded which is good

I'll be happy just to dig my first three ringer
