Default Merc's

I have never found any Merc's. Is it that they are harder to pick up than anything else or am I doing something wrong. My aunt used to find Merc's all the time with her D-Tex, but I have never seem to be able to locate one. I am good at quarters, silver Rosie's and all the other stuff but those Merc's seem to have vanished around here. Any suggestions??

Let me edit this for the record. I have found some Merc's in a pee trap here in the house but that wasn't MDing. It is just not the same if you know what I mean...

Hi adjutant

I think a lot of baby boomers dropped many more Rosie's than Merc's and wondering what age the quarters are ? Seems like your making good finds and i'm sure you'll have a run on them sometime just keep on huntin. Good Luck, Bill

At the old schoolhouse I've been pounding....the rosies to mercs ratio is about 5 rosies to 1 merc. That's been my experience at this particular spot. The mercs seem to be in nice shape though....as though they may have been lost in the 40s rather than the 60's. Keep swingin that coil....they'll show up. I found 15 rosies at this schoolhouse before the first merc showed up. I'm now at 19 rosies and 4 mercs at that site.

Default Schoolhouse

Speaking of schoolhouses, there is one right across the street from my house that is used for a warehouse now. It is a Historical Landmark. Originaly built in 1883, then again around 1914 and again in1936. Zack has been making all his finds out front towards the school. I wonder if the old schoolyard was bigger at one time. It is 12:27 am and everyone here is asleep. Guess I'll mosey on out to Zack's digging spots and see if he missed anything. This time I am taking my detector and not the one he usually uses. Mine seems to go a bit deeper and since he has already "done" that area, then I will see what I may be able to find. He may well have got it all but for some reason, I seem to doubt it.

If I find any silver, I may replant it and let the kiddo's find it. I haven't ever planted coins for them yet (other than the school presentations) but they are a little down cause we didn't do much hunting today.
