I've noticed that since I got the newer 6000DiPro, that my finds of larger silver have increased, but I don't seem to find nearly as many dimes. I may have to go back over these places with the old machine with it's 8 inch search coil and see if the new one with the 9 1/2" coil is missing some dimes.
I just read on white's site....that when you go to a larger coil...you lose some sensitivity to small coin sized objects. Hmmmmm. The whole thing may be my imagination....but when my old machine gets back....along with the weather....I'm going to revisit some of these places. That may be why my old 6000 was so good at picking up silver dimes that others leave behind. Folks get to thinking that "bigger is always better"...and manufacturers have gone along with that thinking to satisfy the desires of their customers. The weather here stinks....it's raining and getting colder. It will be a long time before I get to see if I'm right or wrong about this. Wyatt |

Hi Wyatt,
I'm not sure about that. I've found well over 100 dime with that same detector. It was very good on locking in on Quarters. I think its about where you hunt. I do like the smaller coils though, I removed my 10.5 and only use my 8 inch coil now but most of my detecting is in wooded areas.

HI Greg,
Like I said, it might just be my imagination. I like the new one...it finds quarters and walkers really well I talked to the guy downtown again....the one who insists that the old school was hit "really hard"...and he still claims that it was hunted to death. I found 25 silver dimes there with the old machine, and just one more with the new one (note...the old one won't find anymore there either). He was at the garage at the bottom of the hill when I found the 41 walker and 2 silver quarters last night. I went down there to wash them because I figured he'd be there, and he was flabbergasted. I thought he'd like 'em. I've been over the yard that gave up the 42 walker on saturday a few more times and I can't find any more silver there. That yard would be a good test of my theory once I get my old machine back, since I've only hunted that place with the newer one. It could also be that I overlap my swings better with the smaller coil. It's worth looking into just to satisfy myself that I'm doing everything I can to make my cookie tin as heavy as possible. Do you want to look for that class ring with me if we get a warm day? There's probably silver there too, but I'd like to find that ring for her. Wyatt |

Hey Greg.......Remember the first thing I said about the newer 6000 when I switched it on? I remember telling you that the sound was higher pitched, and that I thought it operated at a higher frequency. I think they're "the same thing..only different"....and that having both in tandem will turn out to be very effective.
