Default Hunting the urban jungle is a special challenge unto it's own

I hunt inner city sites and have grown to adore the little kids. They come up to me and ask questions and are so curious. I show them how to find things and let them try it and the grin they get from finding something is worth 10x's what i find. I have my own little group of kids that follow me like the pied piper cause they never know when a quarter is going to fly over my shoulder. Nothing better than opening an avenue to the underprivelged. It's a small part of my hunting but a real treat when the kids interupt HH Bill

Talking Urban Treasure Hunting

Hi from Texas! I'd be careful about letting any strangers even kids pick up the detector and hunt. A few years ago this happened to me and they happened to find several rings which I grabbed up before they could do so and they raised a big stink about it! Also a friend of mine let some kids use his and they dropped it and he wound up sending it back to the factory for repairs. So it is ok to be friendly but some caution should always be used!!!

Unhappy Urban treasure hunting

A friend of mine let a strange kid try his detector after the kid hung around watching him for about 1/2 hour. The kid detects to about 20 feet away and took off running with it.
That was the last time my friend seen his XLT.
You can not trust any strangers enough to let them try your detector.
If they get too interested you should tell them the batteries just died and leave the area.

The Urban Treasure Hunter/ A practical hand book for beginners
by Michael Chapman
Copyrite 2005

ISBN # 0-7570-0090-8

I won one in a competition hunt last year and it has to be the best ever book written on Urban treasure hunting.

This really is an excelent book for the metal detectorist.
