Default I wish I had never quit this in 1993

Back when I stopped detecting in 1993, silver was at 4.30 an ounce. I've had so much fun in the past couple months and made so many good finds....that I can only imagine the pile of stuff I didn't find in 12 years. I wish I'd never gotten too busy to "smell the coffee".

Don't look back on it Wyatt Give it your all when you can. Its fun and good exercise too. The take home pay isn't bad either. Hey, get the wife a detector and get her involved..It just could mean more time in the field.

The wife's just not into it at all.....and if she had been....we'd have never stopped doing this for such a long time.

Default Get the Wife Interested!!

Wyatt,

I got my wife interested in metal detecting one way. About three years ago I bought her a sapphire and diamond ring for Valentines Day and gave it to her. About three months later we were cooking out and she took off her ring to help prepare the burgers. I saw it laying there and sorta "lost it" (in my pocket) and she was in a panic. We had been playing frisbee earlier and she thought she lost it out in the yard. She had forgot she took it off to help with the food.

Well, she got my old Bounty Hunter 1 that I have had since I was a kid and searched that yard over better than I would have been able to do. She found four rings, none were hers, three silver dollars and a bunch of smaller change. She also found a yellow handled Uncle Henry Knife and when she was about to give up on her ring, it "mysteriously" gave her a reading and she "found" it. After that she was hooked and when I finally mustered up enough courage to tell her what I did, she made me buy her the Garrett Treasure Ace 300 she still uses over at a pawn shop over in Garland TX(right up the road from Garrett Ind) for $45.00. She's been hunting with it ever since.

The other day when she went in labor we were out MDing. All the kids were at her dad's and she got a good reading and was marking it and labor set in. Guess I better go dig up her find sooner or later.

Take off the rear view mirror, looking back can be a bad habit, trust me on this one..
Wife would go with me when I went out so I bought her a detector of her own. We went out and dug a shool gound the other day, good place to start, lots of milk money laying under the monkey bars. She came up with a 10 peso piece and you would think she found gold. Very nice coin I must say. She's hooked, beside now I don't have to listen to "Let's try over there."
Just kiddin, it really made my day more fun with her more involved.. Bob

Default Detecting is addicting !!!!

I tried to get my wife interested about 6 years ago !!! She has to many other things going on ! We have a terminally ill son with a rare bone disease BUT I still find time to detect an hour or two every day !! About a year ago found a gold & diamond ring at the soccer fields and my wife confiscated it immediately !!! Go figure, it fit her finger perfectly !!!! She still is not interesed in medal detecting !!!! I am REALLY into Medal detecting for 6 years now and my wife is gonna have to pry my Spectrum XLT out of my hand when I die !!!!! 12 years is along time to put the detecting fever away !!!!! Medal detectors have advanced in technology BIG TIME !! I am working to fill my 3rd display case of jewlery in 6 years !! And I dont live anywhere near a beach !!!!! Soooo !!! PIck the Medal detector up again man and have FUN !!! HAPPY HUNTING !!! KENNETH

Wyatt,

I only wish that I had started this Hobby before 1993. I may have missed out on great spot's in my area. I know there are spot's out there to be found, but I just think "what could have been". HH David

Talking Don't look backward, LOOK FORWARD!

Hello from Texas! Don't regret the past, concentrate on the now and the future. Keep your mind and your eyes open to all types of treasure hunting because all types are available to us. All one has to do is to seize the opportunity when it shows up for it may disappear tomorrow. Good luck
