Default Story of the mad bull....

hello all i was just sitting here remenicing and thought you all might like this story.Back when i was living in locust grove V.A.(just outside of Fredricksburg) I lived way out in the boondock's and across the street about a qurter of a mile into the wood's was an old falling down house site,One night durring the full moon i decided to do a little detecting,as it was a nice warm night and i was bored so i hiked on over to the site and was doing pretty good when i got a signal about dead center between two large trees. So i'm thinking treasure ! well i got down and was just cutting into the dirt when all of a sudden there was this godawfull crashing of limbs and brush behind me.I jumped up and when i turned around about 20 feet away There was a huge bull. when he saw me he let out a loud bellow and charged !By this time I think my heart had stopped completly.Well i turned around and began to run as fast as i could That old bull was hot on my heal's i'll tell ya ! I was dodging trees and rocks and running for my life ! I finaly lost him when i came to a steep embankment.I jumped and the bull did a power slide. That had to of ben a record 1/4 mile ! after that i never whent back,NO bull !

Thats a great story Rip! Glad you made it out o.k. Reminds me of a time when my buddy and I were hunting a ford along the Shenandoah River. It was fairly thick cover with a lot of over hanging tree limbs when I got a good signal. I was digging through tree roots when I felt a "tap" "tap" on my head phones. I absent mindedly swatted at it thinking it was a branch. Two more taps and I finally looked up to see what it was. There above my head hanging in a branch was a black snake. He was striking at my head set!!!!! . I have never moved so fast in my life! I can't stand snakes!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say that was the last summer time river dig I have ever been on! would love to hear others "scary" dig stories!!banner

Unfortonatly i never did find out what was betwean the 2 tree's.I would like to hear some of yall's scary and or funny stories also. This was'nt the first time i had a run in with a bull. The 1'st time it was also a full moon lit night and i was out detecting when I had a large angus bull following my trail. He would sniff the ground and let out a bellow and i would jog on ahead aways untill he was getting to close then i would jog a little farther. and once i was trying to get a photo of 2 bull's fighting, when they decided that i would be better to beat on.As i was running for the fence i dropped my camera when it hit the ground it took a picture. When i got it developed it was a picture of a pile of bull manure ! I think the first time i had a run in with a bull was when i was 5 or 6 i was on a farm and was playing in the barn when a bull head butted me in the chest( i was between the wall and stanchins) not only did i get the wind knocked out of me but the farmer gave me a boot in the arc for upsetting his bull ! I think i've learned to stay out of pastures that have bull's roaming around

hey Travis,This remind's me of a time when i was still living in locust grove. My house was part of an old mill. One night i was laying in bed reading, when i heard the shampoo bottles fall into the shower.I was thinking "that darn cat" but then i remembered that i had let the cat outside.Well i whent to the bathroom and there was a 6 foot black snake in the shower. I picked him up,and the next day took him far away and set him loose ! If you ever need someone to clear the snake's out let me know as i'd rather deal with a snake in the grass ,than a bull on my arss !

Those are some funny stories! Sure are glad you two are OK from the snake and bull! Sure will be looking over head for sure now!

Had a lady tell me I could go in her pasture to hunt an old home site...She had lama's in that pasture! Told me they were friendly! Wondered if she was giving me the bull! Aren't those the one's that will chase and spit on ya! Haven't gotten the courage to try that yet!
