From the land of the Bluenose......saw Marco Polo posted a retro of the East Coast 2002 Big dig so with it being a slow time of year, at least here in Eastern Canada I thought I'd share a most memorable dig from the past.
Sherman Hines is a reknown Canadian photographer who I have met on a few occasions and on one such meeting he invited me to detect his abode which is circa 1605 and believed to be one of the oldest French buildings in Canada. He asked me to detect his property to find French artifacts as he was having an open house in conjunction with the Acadian Congress and felt it would make a nice display during this time. I asked if I could bring a friend and ended up Marco Polo from Nigadoo NB, Len Jamie and Karen from Moncton NB, Andy Eh from Selma NS Gary Lower Sackville as well as a few others with French Dave missing the boat and arriving after the hunt but stayed a day . Sherman put all 9 of us up in his guest house and provided a cooler of beer for us. Have no photos of the guys hunting due to the fact that at this point as I was trying to single handedly empty the beer cooler. Pat forwarded this photo of Sherman and I after we returned for another dig a week later where I pulled out one coin... A foot note to this dig was Sherman bringing in a backhoe and taking out his power line in the first attempt at digging to locate an underground tunnel and on the second attempt his sewer system. Total repair bill was in the $6000 range and his wife was rather upset (Upper Canuck) while Sherman (Lower Canuck)....laughed about it!
