I am from central Georgia. On the news last night there was something about the GCB (Georgia Corrections Board) planning to move from Atlanta to Forsyth Ga. The new site is that of an old female college built in the late 1800's. In the past this site has been padlocked. I am hoping to be able to get permission from someone to do some MD here. Do you have any idea of what avenue to begin asking permission. Should it be from the state or local officials. I have a gut feeling this would be a sweet spot to hunt. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

From experience I have had here in Texas, I found it best to start with the local municiples and work your way up. This helps gain the respect of all the local authorities because you went through the effort of checking with them first, most of the time. When they tore down the old junior high here and the old city hall, I was able to get access to the property via the City Inspector and Code Officer. Later, the Local PD borrowed me and two of my detectors to help locate a firearm cache consisting of guns that were used in a couple of crimes. The guy had put them in 6" PVC pipe four foot long or so and capped both ends and buried the "capsule" under his back porch steps.

Also, the County Commissioner can direct you to abandoned and deserted huses and building that are scheduled to be torn down. The City Inspector can do the same if you ask.
