Greetings all! I am a new hunter in Fredericksburg, Va. The last time I did any detecting was about 17 years ago in Arizona. A friend let me use and old Compass model he had. Well, now I have just received my new detector and am looking for some legal places in/near here to try it out. Anyone from this area? Any help would be appreciated. I'd even love to tag along on a hunt with someone.

Ron

Hello Ron,I lived in Fredricksburg for years.why not hit some of thouse battlfields !! just kidding.the best thing to do is just ask around, any yard in town would be good if you can get permission. You could also cheak with the folks at the golden yankee ? not sure if thats right but it is the cival war shop next to the visiter center on dead mans curve. There is also a friend of mine,Ray Acors, that works for the campus police (mary Washington)that may be able to help.I also read an article a while back about a club that holds digs every year there. There is a subdivision called goveners green behind the mall that at one time was an old plantation site(this is were i lived, before it was a subdivision)I used to find some nice indian as well as cival war relics there. But anyway you are in a great area to hunt so you shouldent have much problem finding plenty of goodies.Good luck and keep us posted HH...Terry

Welcome to the Forum Ron
I love that area you live in and lived there in 88 & visit every year.
There's no shortage of hunting spots down that way.
Hit the woods and look for old foundations or cellar holes.

Good luck,

Greg

Thanks for the welcome guys! I guess that I will have to start looking around for some spots. I just wanted to see if there were some legal places that I could get some practice in before I venture out on my own. Thanks for the leads!

Ron
