In some ways it depends on what you want to look for mostly as well as how much time you want to invest in understanding your detector. The MXT would be the budget way to go and is a great all around detector that can be used in many types of hunting. The DFX is easier to learn then the EX II and it is also easier to understand with better pinpointing. The programming is easy and you can set it up with your own custom programs. The EX II I feel is better on depth but is harder to understand and is not as easy to set up. Also , can say that the EXII is better for areas where you can dig a larger deeper hole. All in all , I would have to say you need to decide what type of hunting you want to do (coin, relic etc) and then go from there. Right now the DFX is the better deal since it has over 200.00 worth of free usable accessories. All of these are in stock.
If you need any more help please ask , I will answer any questions you may have. Thansk.

I've been debating on the same issue(DFX vs EXP II) for almost 4 months now waiting for the spring hunting season here in Kansas. I'm still not 100% decided yet but I'm thinking I'm going to go with the DFX for a few personal reasons.
I've used many detectors over the years but the last 15 have been Whites so I'm familiar with them. The main pro I have found about the EXP II is depth and the cons are weight, learning curve and made of plastic. Weight is not so much an issue and I'm not that put off by a learning curve IF the added depth is worth it, but the plastic thing scares the b-jebus out of me. I used and abused my old Spectrum Eagle for 13 years and it still worked like a champ and looked pretty good when I sold it(I'm still kicking myself for ever selling it). I know plastic can be tough but I just can't imaging it holding up after 13 years the same as good old metal. Not to mention the DFX is also cheaper. For me there's just too many pros for the DFX to pass it up. |

In my opinion there isn't much difference in target id accuracy from the 6000 di to the DFX. The DFX gives you more info on the target like the signa graph. I used both the 6000 di pro (5 years) & XLT (7 years)
I really wasn't that much better off using the XLT in my opinion. I made bunches of nice old coin finds with that 6000 and I hear the new owner is digging up good finds with it to. I now use the EXII and am very content with it.

As with all target ID meters and detectors the ID depends a lot on the target itself. The size is important as the detector cannot accurately show a proper ID for a larger than coin size target. Also , the metallic content of the target is important. Brass fittings such as pipe elbows usually read .25 cents. Ground mineralization also is a factor as high mineral content masks a targets signature. Depth can be a factor as the target ID is only good to certain depths which depends on the model used. As far as the DFX goes , I find mine to be very accurate within the first 8 to 9" of the bottom of the coil except on those pesky brass pieces. After that the target ID begins to drop off until you cannot get a target ID at all.
