Default I've Been Banned From Ebay

Got an email today informing me that I was banned from Ebay. So was my mother, and my father in law and one of my long time AC buddies. Seems they think all of us are one person because we always use each others computer when bidding on stuff when we get together. I was looking for a motorcycle and it informed me I was SUSPENDED. Stupid Ebay. To top all that off, ebay also owns PayPal so they are digging into your pockets twice if you are selling something.

Default Sorry. Should have clarified

Ac Buddies, Air Conditioning Contractor friends. Sometimes one of us will get a really big job like a new store and need to hire other Heating and Ventilation Air Conditioning Technicians to help out. (HVAC Techs) or as it is known in the business, AC Buddies.

I think when you get your next computer you can get back in. I think tyhey track you by your TCPIP address or your MAC address which are unique to everyones machine.

It is probably tracked by your IP address and once your account has been banned (based on activity from an IP address), your account is the entity that is hosed.

Ebay will reinstate your account if you contact them. They probably thought you were involved with some sort of shrill bidding.

Although I would be catious, dont reply to that e-mail you recieved with any personal information.

Default Here is what happened.

Me and Crystal set a computer up in the commons (Business) area of our motel. We allow guests to use it on set time intervals. Some shop Ebay and some just like to prowl around online. It has a "net Nanny" to keep most of the porn off of it. It is using my own ISP to connect and the other day my father in law was here using it and he bid on an item. He is an exterminator and neither of us considered that a guest had posted an item via my ISP because we do not monitor their usage. Anyway he was bidding on a sprayer system that was "22 miles" from me so I could pick it up for him, turns out a guest posted it for his brother. Well, Ebay didn't like the fact that all these different users were using the same system and appearantly suspended us all. They did claim shill bidding. We offered to provide them with valid state issued IDs for all users and affidatives filled out in front of our local police department and forward all the info to them but they still claim shill bidding. My father in law had his lawyer contact the legal department at Ebay and try to explain things but I haven't heard the outcome. Meanwhile, my mother's craft auctions got cancelled, my father in laws Ebook Store got cancelled and our guest with the sprayer had his auction cancelled. But he had another auction end the day before we were banned and he has not heard from the winning buyer other than one email. I figured Ebay ruled the auction invalid and he will have to reregister under a different IP or if they get all this mess straightened out maybe they will reinstate us and make the auction good.

I never heard of shill bidding (that is not what we call it) until I got the email. At first I was surprized and wondered what happened but when I got another email from Ebay, it told me the users who were selling and the user who bid. All were from the same IP. Guess I will have to block Ebay from the Common's computer.

James

James, sorry to hear of your troubles with ebay.My whole family use ebay,my 2 brothers make almost there entire incomes there.Myself i just sell more for the fun of it,and extra cash in the winter as i do seasonal work and every bit helps. But i heard that ebay was going to make it against the rules for people to bid on family and friends items.I think this is unfair,if someone is going to shill a bid there going to find another way anyways so why punish everyone ! I prefer family and friends not bid on my items though.Dad is allways bidding on my stuff and i've told him a thousand times whats mine is yours ! but hes a hard head I hope you can get this resolved soon without to many headaches and good luck ! ....Terry

Default Email From Ebay. Read and you see what I mean.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to write to eBay regarding the suspension
of your account. My name is Anderson and I am happy to assist you.

Based on the information you have provided, I have reviewed your
situation. Due to the evidence in our records and the severe nature of
shill bidding, it has been determined that your suspension will remain
in effect for 7 days from the date it was issued.

Shill bidding occurs whenever a seller places a bid on their own item,
either directly or through others. An eBay seller is never allowed,
under any circumstances, to place a bid on their own item. For further
information on why shill bidding is not permitted on eBay, please visit
the following page.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/shill-bidding.html

To avoid even the appearance of this activity, family members and
individuals living together, working together or sharing a computer, may
not bid on each other's items. Although the account will remain
temporarily suspended, I look forward to your reinstatement and hope
that your future experiences on eBay are pleasant and successful.

In regards to the other accounts you mentioned, I am unable to accept
appeals from members other than the suspended account. However, I will
gladly review and consider any appeal that is submitted from the email
address registered to the suspended account.

Thank you for your time. I appreciate your patience and understanding
while helping you resolve this matter.

Kind Regards,

Anderson

Man this really bites. I know a lot of businesses that are not going to like this because their main source of income is Ebay.
