Hi and welcome.
I would like to suggest the CZ3D. This detector is great at old coin sites and actually enhances the ability of the detector to find older coins by bringing the tones up higher into the tone range. The Quattro is by no means a bad detector but I think it takes more patience and time to understand. I think you'll have a better time with the CZ.Let me know if you need any more help or would like to make a purchase.

I can't say anything about the Quatro as I have never used one. I primarily use the CZ3D. As with any detector, you do have to learn what it is telling you. I used to watch the needle all the time, then found it was more of a distraction. I primarily go by sound now.
As for finds, probably is more so due to the sites I go to, but the oldest one so far is a 1917 wheat. I have found tons of wheats and a couple silvers. If you want to read more about the CZ3D, download the Fisher Intelligence PDF from Fishers site. There are two articles in it, which pertain specifically to the 3D. As with most of the CZ's though, it does like rusty nails. But again, this is a case where you need to listed to exactly what it is telling you and you will dig less nails. Good luck either way you go. Let me know if you have any other specific questions regarding using it. Also, take a look at the recent finds part of the forum. I have a post with pics from a last week of what I found using my 3D. As for the Fisher intelligence, you can get it at: http://www.fisherlab.com/hobby/index.htm Good luck and HH, Eric |

Thanks for the replies. Tony, You mentioned that the QUATTRO takes more time to understand? Just to clarify, I am not dead set on just those two detectors. I just want to buy the best I can for what I want it to do. Which is primarily Old coins and Jewelry. Price is not an issue. Any other recomendations from anyone?

There sure are other choices. The Minelab EXII and Whites DFX are two detectors I use and they are both in the top end of detectors and about the "best" you can buy for overall performance. As with any detector , yo will have to understand it's operation and what it tells you. If you're will ing to spend some time then go with the EXII. Less time would be spent with the DFX since it is a more turn on and go detector. I can't advertise Whites on the web but can sell them to you. Why not give me a call and we can discuss this in real time and go over what really would best suit you.
Thanks fo your time. ![]()
