I sure hope it wasn't one of those recluses (not sure how to spell it) I have seen a bite on someone's leg and it will start rotting a hole straight through to the other side...Not sure but I guess that is why you need the antibiotics to stop this...Hope you have checked with a doctor!!!

I saw an article in a newspaper up here saying the same thing, "they don't live in Californina" but in the same article there was a story about a man in Redding who was bitten by one. I also know a gentleman who lives in the Sierra foothill area of Nevada City who was bitten on the leg by a spider. Only thing the doctors could figure out was a recluse because of the resulting wound. He now sports a very large scar..

Default Bites

Last summer I was hunting around some tennis courts and I saw a small hole next to the concrete. When I ran my detector over it I noticed some small bugs flying out, not much more than a quarter inch in length. I thought, "What the heck kind of bug is that" and stood there watching for a minute or two. Suddenly one of those "bugs" nailed me on the arm and it felt like my arm was on fire! After I murdered the small assailant I could see that it was a tiny yellow jacket looking wasp, a kind I had never seen before! I hightailed it and my arm burned for nearly 4 hours and a big red welt raised on my arm that hurt for 3 or 4 days! Those little buggers were potent! Right at sundown I went back with a bottle of undiluted insect poison and quickly poured a couple of ounces down the hole and covered it with a rock so they couldn't get out. Next day they were apparently all dead as there was no activity around the hole. I couldn't help but worry about what if some barefoot kid walked over it or sat down on that spot. I talked to a game biologist and he told me it was a new breed of yellow jacket wasp that had just been seen in our area for the past couple of years and that it had been imported from somewhere I forget where now. You can bet I don't go poking a stick into a hole in the ground anymore! Monty
