automax pinpointer help

i have the automax v2 and it wouldnt stop buzzing no matter how much i adjusted the sensitivity. I was told online to adjust a small screw in the back to fix the sensisitivity so i turned it and tried adjusting it many times. Now the pinpointer hardly works, it cant detect metal unless im almost touching it. Does anyone know how i can adjust it correctly?

Basically these are Chinese junk. Send it back and have it replaced.

The adjustment is under the belt clip that must be removed to adjust sensitivity. Did you turn the right screw? I have an Automax II that the barrel broke off after about 4 or 5 times out. I got a new one and put a heavy bead of JB Weld around the barrel where it joins the body and it is still working after almost a year! On mine you have always nearly had to touch the target before it would sound off. That's just the way it operates as far as I can tell. By all means if you have done everything right in adjusting it, send it back! Monty

tony, if the automax is "chinese junk", what pinpointer would you recommend? (as long as it doesnt violate any forum rules that is).
