Default Betcha didn't know the gov't knew so much...

...about our hobby. I took the crapola clad coins to the bank this morning since I've been just rolling it and using money out of my pocket to buy silver halves with....until I got enough of the stuff to turn in.

So I take 130 bucks in crusty money to the teller who gives me the "folding stuff" for it, and I tell her that it's dug money from metal detecting....and she says "Thanks for telling me. We have to turn that stuff in to the Federal Reserve as it comes in."

They know exactly how much money is dug and pressed back into service each and every year.

I thought that was interesting. Now you know why we never see these crusty coins in our pockets again once they get to the bank.

Default Crusty coins

I get a crusty one now and then from a local convenience store. Come to think of it I have spent a roll or two in there! I clean my clad before I toss it in my coffee can and I put the cruddy ones in the penny jar at the various stores I visit. I also use Coinstar and I am surprised that it will take nearly all my coins regardless of condition. The 8% sircharge is a bit stiff, but it is convenient. Monty
