My Dad's ancestors were Welsh (paternal) and English (Maternal).....my Mom's folks were German (Paternal) and Cherokee (Maternal)

That's quite a mixture huh?

My Dads family was from Scotland and my Moms were from England.

Just as an interesting side note - my great grandfather 8 times removed (I think that is how you say it) settled Londonderry, NH. His house still remains. It is now a museum. I have been there and sat on the porch. What a feeling and chance for reflection that is. JoAnne

Lets see, on my Dads side. My GDads family are from Ireland [Flannery], came over circa 1670.
My Gmoms family [Bloomfields] are from England came about the same time.
The Flannerys settled in KY around 1840ish in Elliott County from NC. The Bloomfields settled in KY around 1860 in Lewis County from NJ

Dad = England
Mom = Scotland

Tracing your family roots can be interesting. Mine was fairly easy having a last name of Adams and two former presidents as kin, but I've found tracing more recent ancestry quite a challenge.

I know we came to America via the Mayflower(John Alden) but I get lost in the 1750's in Virginia.

Hey boobie,

How about both of my paternal grandparents were born in Transylvania!

By the way, we need to get together to do some detecting. I prefer to detect at night, no garlic or crucifixes please........
