A lot of people have the same trouble, not to worry it is easy to fix

You can go to Radio Shack and get either a pushbutton or a flip switch and just replace it your self. They are cheap but do work. This is for the type with the switchs only.

If you have the newer type that has the round rubber flat push type switch, that one can be easily fixed also.
1.Pry out the rubber push pad.

2.Notice a square rubber dimple on the underside.

3.It becomes worn down and gets rounded off on the edge, and doesn't make good contact

4.On the pinpointer cut a circle of clear packing tape that fits perfectly inside and over the contact portion of the
pinpointer.

5.Stick it over the top of contact located on the side of the pinpointer.

6.Put a tiny drop of (Gorilla Glue) directly over the contact point on the clear packing tape.

7.Let it dry completely. (as it will swell up)

8.Trim it down (if needed)

9.Replace the rubber onto the pinpointer.

10.The Gorilla Glue will now act as a trigger point, and push on the contact point and it will now work.

11.I have done this for at least 3 buddies and they all said it was like new.

Hope this helps someone

I like the one Greg has.....but I forget what it's called. As soon as you turn it over...it's on. Must have a mercury switch in it. It vibrates when you get near the target. I used it to help locate a standing liberty quarter in a hole that was being stubborn.

It is called the Vibra-probe 500. I have one of them and it is a good one.

I also have 2 of the Whites bullseye pinpointers. I have fixed or replaced the switches on both of them.

It will come down to your personal preference.
