Default Pinpointer Question

I am looking to buy a pinpointer and wanted some opinions on which is the best to buy. I was originally going to buy a White's bullseye but I see alot of people buying the Sebens on Ebay. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, PABill

Well, i bought a bullseye2 from whites . i've sent it back to the company 2 times now , the button switch went bad , very delicate button this is my 3rd time now ,when i get it back it will have a toggle switch on it instead of a button you have to hold down ,it will be off or on . hope it takes care of the problem, i;d look for a better one if i didnt allready have this one , if it goes bad again i will get my money back and buy a different one , for what it's worth thet's my opinion.

i use an automax v2 and like the story above i have some issues with the quality. the stem is only made of plastic and i have had mine snap on me. i glued it using some epoxy that i use at work and now its solid as a rock, but as is out of the box, its a little on the flimsy side. i have also had to adjust it several times as the sensativity kid of "shifts" at times.it is also very big. other than that, it works pretty well.

Hi PABill,

Vibra probe hands down! Easy to use and pretty rugged. There are no switches to deal with, it turns itself off when not in use. Really cuts the time over the hole. Got mine from TonyinCT and am very happy with it.

Here are my humble opinions on the pinpointers.

Hollowpointed is correct in that the AutomaxV2 does not have the quality, and is very flimsy. The shaft on mine just fell apart in a way that it could not be fixed , so I put it in file 13.

I have replaced the switch in all my Whites Bullseye pinpointers. (you can get replacements from Radio Shack).
I had to fix 2 of the ones with the pushbutton. One was mine and another one for a friend. Every time I sent one back to the factory there was no problem. Each time Whites sent me a brand new one.
They do stand by their guarantee.

I purchased the DX1 for my DFX. It did do a nice job but I just didn't care for it. You have to switch it & off every time you use it. That wasn't to bad but I kept forgetting to switch it back and forth. Plus it was high dollar.

I traded it for a Vibraprobe with RustyNH.
He just loves the DX1 and I wouldn't trade the Vibraprobe500 for any other one. To me it is perfect. It is easy to use and very well built.

Hope I didn't confuse you to much and I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide on.
I am sure you will get other suggestions.

Default Thanks to all

Well first I want to say thanks to all of you for the information. The Vibraphone appears to be the clear winner. I have only been a member here for very short time but I find everyone here very pleasant and extremely helpful.
I will be shopping around as of tomorrow for a newvibraphone! Thanks again and good luck to all in your future finds. PABill

PABill may I suggest that you check with some of the Treaqsure Quest sponsors. They will not steer you wrong. I personally have dealt with Tony in CT (TC Detectors) and can say that he is very quick to get back to you with any questions you might have and is always willing to help in any way he can. But I am sure any of the sponsors will do the best for you they can. JoAnne
