Default Anyone From Louisiana?

Hi. I am new to this group and am wondering if anyone here is from Louisiana. I live in the Acadiana area. I recently purchased an Ace 250 and equipped it with a Night Hunter. My wife and I tried out the Ace 250 last week in our backyard... we found 4 pennies and lots of trash. Last night I took my daughter to the city park and we dug up 2 quarters and 9 pennies. Tons of mosquitos and lots of Off w/Deet! There is much that I am going to learn with the detector, ... I am starting to recognize the sound when it detects coins. This group seems to be really great. I have been reading posts here for a few days, it seems lots of you do very well with your metal detectors. Hopefully one day I will be just as good a hunter!

Default From Louisianna? To: Final Last Days

Not in Louisianna, but am only about 1 hour away from the TEXAS-LOUISIANNA STATE LINE. Went to Fort Polk in October to pick up my son who is in the U.S. ARMY INFANTRY. This is an 8 hour round trip. Should be many treasures to be found in your state. Next time hopefully I will have time to enjoy some treasure hunting. AND GOOD LUCK.....

Hi Joe, I am familiar with Fort Polk... I had a friend who lived in Leesville, which is the same area as Fort Polk. I used to drive about 3 hours to get to that area to see her. I am still hoping to find many treasures here in my state. I have been finding some good items this past week... I just hope my luck continues!!! I will be in your state at the end of December... going to my brother-in-laws for Christmas in Plano.

Hi there LaRoper,
I've been out your way a few times. Not to Metal Detect however. I've been a member here on TQ for about 6 months. I MD mostly local parks in my area. Have been turned down quite a few times when asked to detect on old home sites and CW camp sites. Hopefully my luck will change in the weeks ahead! I am saving up on a new detector, and am having trouble which one to get - my choices are a White's DFX or Minelab's Explorer SE.

Don't give up on the land owners. Most are very helpful. I like to just talk a while. Loads of information there. I haven't done much detecting in your area, Eunice a little. I have a few leads around Iota, for and old hot springs resort.
As for the detector, I have an whites Eagle Spectrum. Its old but works well. I also have a Minelab Sov Elite. Goes realy deep. My suggestion is the Explorer SE. Minelab just puts out a great product.
If you are down this way let me know, I set you on some good places.
Later LR

Default Hi from Baton Rouge

hey,
I'm not too far from you. I live in South BR. I agree... this is a tough area to detect in. I have managed a few good finds though. If you're ever in town, let me know and we'll see what we can find.

Hey FLD,
Sorry, I've been out for a while.
Sure, if you are down one weekend or day let me know and we will hook up. Just a little warning, most sights I hunt are in the woods and some are thick with brush. Bring backpack with water and eats. Oh, and some "DEEPWOODS OFF" LOL
