Virus threat
Last week I got zapped by what is known as a spybot virus. I got it off the Bounty Hunter Treasure Hunting site. I have a couple of BH detectors along with several others and visit it from time to time. Anyway there was an odd looking post made by "CS". Since it was odd looking I didn't even click on the text rather clicked on the initials to see the sender's profile. As soon as I did all kinds of alarms went off and and I got a notice that a spybot virus was attemting to invade my system but had been stopped by my preventative software. I also got a notice that this was a new virus and that the only company that had the software to stop it was "Virus Rescue, Inc.' The popup was really professional looking and appeared legit.....but it wasn't. It was the virus itself disguised as a virus killing software. Since I had never had a virus before I guess I paniked and clicked on it. You can guess the rest. It took me 3 days of work to get rid of it! I don't think it got too far into my personal files because of my firewall, but it did get my credit card so I had to cancel it and luckily it had not been used. I got an email today from "CS" apparently trying to get in again and immediately deleted it and purged it from my trash file. So, beware! It is very trickey and although I am usually very cautious, I fell for it! MB
