Hi Tony and welcome. I agree with Indy, start out on the play grounds and parks. Learn the detector and start researching the area. Research for old gathering places that may no longer be gathering places. Remember, finds come from where people have been and good old finds come from where people gathered along time ago. Good research always seems to pay off. For me finding the history of an area is half the fun of the hobby. Good luck and we will be looking forward to hearing about all your great finds.

Thanks Indy and cchughs. Thats exactly the advice I'm looking for. I especially like cchughs suggestion of researching an area rather than just picking a spot. And Indy, there is a park near me with a walking trail that might prove intersesting. Thank You for the suggestion.
