I lived in Uvalde but not into mding at that time, just bass fishing.Fished Lake Amistad many a time with great results. There is a creek(Frio something) that runs thru the golf course.I would ask them if you could just hunt along the creek.Make sure if you go to any remote areas,to ask permission and watch out for immigrants in remote areas. There has been so much trouble that the owners might take a pot shot.I know when I lived there(1993-1995),they were having problems and it's probably a lot worse now.Just east is Bracketville where the Alamo Village is(where the film and a lot of others were made)and also Ft Davis, original home of the Buffalo soldiers and later Ike and a few others.Nice museum there.Anyway, goodluck and HH.O yes,Lantry isn't far to the north of Del Rio and that is the remants of Judge Roy Bean hangout.

Default How About Mexico???

DelRio is right on the border. Not sure on all the law on detecting in Mexico but you can always call your local Mexican Embassy and ask! I was told it was tolerated, you may need a local who speaks the language fluently and bring some bribe money! Also I wouldn't take an exspensive detector just in case someone tries to confiscate it from you! Now if this is too much, San Antonio is only 2 hours or so away and South Padre Island is only 3 hours or so away, also McAllen and EDinburg have some old places to detect also! Good Luck........JOE
