Default MD Made in China/Turkey

Hi all, I've posted this on other forums, but need your help. I have a friend who wants to get into the hobby, but is set on getting one of those China or Turkey made units on E-Bay. Cost is not a problem, I've told him to get an ACE 250 or other brand name MD. He thinks the features on the e-bay ones are just as good.

Need your comments on what these units are really like.

Thanks Much!!

Greg

DON'T TOUCH THEM ! They are junk; period. The Ace is a much better choice. As far as features go ; many detectors have target ID for example yet there are many different detector models at different prices whereas the target ID is much better on the more expensive models. Lets put it this way : all radios play music but FM is better than AM. Same with detectors.

Default Junk, Junk, and Junk

Why in the world would anyone wanting to seriously metal detect buy apiece of crap to detect with? If one does this their metal detecting hobby will be short lived.
This is a fun and rewarding hobby, why stress oneself with a piece of junk that will only be a waste of time.

I for one have a small fortune invested in Metal Detectors, and take this hobby seriously.

My suggestion is to direct your friend to one of the dealers on the forum; they will set him straight on what he needs.

Picture this, going deep-sea fishing with a rubber raft and two ors.

Hi,

Any Treasure Quest member who makes a purchase from our sponsors are backed by Treasure Quest.
I've talked to most of our sponsors by phone and they are good folks and are looking out for you.

Our sponsors are paying the bills here so if at all possible lets reward them by making our purchases from them.

Greg

I have a lawn business and sharpen a lot of mower blades and my Craftsman grinder that i used for many yrs bit the dust and i happened to be at an auction one day and purchased this made in China grinder twice the size of the Craftsman thinking it would blow out those blades in no time . The Grinder stopped spinning after about 20 seconds of normal grinding so I it and gave it a proper burial at the landfill.

Just too many good detectors out there to buy Chinese Junk unless it's the boat HH Bill

Default China-NO WAY!!!

There are a few major companies that assemble their power tools, and other things too, in China. They are not too bad although I still avoid buying them when I can. However-I will not by any kind of cutting tool such as files, drill bits, saw blades, etc. Thay are a total waste of money at any price.
